flashers...

so our traffic lights (like many others) have those little white strobes that go off when emergency vehicles are near... a friend told me that the emergency vehicles have a strobe on their vehicle which set them off and give the emergency vehicle right of way... well i have never seen this in action before living here... now i have seen it twice in a week... (and usually i don't drive much since felix uses the car for work)... so that is alot... the thing is... they were both cops and they didn't seem to be in any particular hurry... both instances were where the cop was turning left (here most all left hand turns are by green arrow ONLY at major intersections) and the cop was last in line... he didn't have his lights or siren on or anything... but at the last moment he flicked his flashing white strobe on and set off the flashing white strobe on the traffic light and thus he made the light... and i had to wait twice as long to cross the intersection (I was in the facing traffic waiting to go straight) and so the lights just SKIPPED us... !!! no fair... this has happened twice! in the ONE week i have had the car... i cant help but wonder if they aren't abusing their flasher!
